Overview
Gated charging is a feature that essentially allows you to create a step between consumers putting their mobile device down on a Chargifi Spot and actually accessing and consuming power.
This extra step could take the form of an advertizement, a marketing video, signing up to your company's app or newsletter, and so on. We have customers and partners who allow their consumers access to wireless charging services using a QR code, which the user has to scan first to unlock wireless charging.
Our SDKs require location services to scan for Chargifi Spots identified by iBeacons. We (and Apple) recommend asking for when in use authorization unless you need location servers for something else in your app.
Your mobile app should authenticate a user against your server so you know which user sent the activation request.
Your mobile app should send your server the device model, battery level, and selection of Spot beacon identifiers to activate the Spot charging session.
