What does the app do?

The Chargifi Slack Alerts app allows you and your colleagues to quickly be alerted to any problems with your Chargifi installation over slack.

You can also use the app to configure your alerts.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

In order to install the Chargifi Slack Alerts app you will need:

• Slack installation
• Permission to install ​apps on your Slack installation

If you wish to use a new channel to receive your alerts, you should create that from within your Slack installation ​before following the rest of the steps on this guide​.

Setting up the App

1. Sign in to the Chargifi Cloud for your network
2. Go to ​Develop » Smart Integrations​ then to ​Slack Alerts​.
3. If there is already a Slack integration for your Network, you will have two options, ​Link my account with Slack​ & ​Add to another Slack Channel​. If there is not, there will be a link with the text ​Add to Slack. If you do not already have a Slack integration for your network, press "Add to Slack". If you wish to add a new one, press ​"Add to another Slack Channel​".

You will be taken to a page on Slack. Please select the channel you wish to post to, and press "Allow".

Adding your account to the Slack App

Let’s imagine that a colleague has already set up your company slack app, but you need to configure it. In that case, you will need to add your account to the Slack App.

You may need to do this to use the Slack home feature for this app if you didn't create the Slack integration between Chargifi Cloud, and your Slack installation.

1. If you have already created a new Slack integration, you won't need to do this part.
2. Go to ​Develop » Smart Integrations​ then to ​Slack Alerts​.
3. If there is not a Slack integration, on your network, please follow the instructions for "Creating a new Slack integration" above. This will also add your account to Slack.
4. If there is already a Slack integration, press ​Link my account with Slack​. This will take you to a page managed by Slack. Press "Allow". In a few seconds, you should see a notice that indicates that your account has been added.

Configuring Alerts

There are three ways of configuring alerts. You can configure alerts through slack, through the Manage section of Chargifi Cloud.

Through Slack

You can configure alerts through the Chargifi App Home, within Slack itself. Simply click on “Chargifi Alerts” within apps, then select your Network, the channel you want to receive alerts on, and the organization you wish to receive alerts for. All the applicable venues will appear below. Now simply click on the venues you want to get alerts for.

Through Chargifi Cloud >> Manage

The settings in manage are useful to set up alerts for one venue at a time, while also setting up duration and alert emails.

1. Go to ​Manage » Alerts » Settings​.
2. Select your Organisation, then Venue.
3. Select Notifications.
   1. While in Notifications here, you can also select the duration, whether or not you wish to receive emails, and a list of support emails to send alerts to.
4. Click on Send beside any Slack channels you wish to send alerts to.

Through Chargifi Cloud >> Develop

These settings are useful to quickly add Slack notifications to multiple venues. This section assumes you have already added a Slack integration.

1. Go to ​Develop » Smart Integrations​ then to ​Slack Alerts​.
2. Click on the spanner icon for the integration you want to edit.
3. Select the organization and venue you wish to add, then select "Add Venue".

Receiving alerts

An alert will appear in a message like this:

In this example (which is an extreme example) we have one new alert, for one Spot, and since in this example there are many existing alerts, the existing alerts are summarised. The Manage Alerts button will take you to the page on Chargifi Cloud where you can view these alerts.

Slash Commands

You can run the following slash commands:

/chargifi-venues

List all venues associated with the current channel. If there are none, it will explain that there are none in the channel, list all channels receiving alerts, and all venues in those channels.

/chargifi-venues all

List all channels receiving alerts, and all venues in those channels.
