Each communication module or transmitter has a Bluetooth beacon built into it that is used to identify a the location of a specific user's device in contexts where a mobile app is used to "gate" the charging experience. The beacon broadcasts a unique identifier to the mobile app, enabling the user to begin a charging session on that specific spot.
Note: While beacon configuration is not required for spots that will not be used in an app-enabled charging context, we recommend quickly configuring the beacon in all types of installations. If a venue decides to add an app-based gate to the charging experience at a later time, no further onsite work will be required.
After activating the communication module or transmitter by connecting it to the Chargifi platform, the installer must configure the Bluetooth beacon inside the communication module or transmitter.
To configure the spot beacon, navigate to Beacon tab. Place the device near the communication module or the back edge of the transmitter near where the power cable is inserted and tap “Configure.” Leave the mobile device near the communication module or transmitter until configuration is done. Usually this process takes less than 15 seconds. If the configuration is successful, a green success message will appear. Otherwise, an error message will appear:
